Congratulations to Charlie!

CONGRATULATIONS to Charlie on becoming OSHA 30 certified! OSHA 30 certification is a managerial certification used in the construction and the trades industries to make sure all safety protocols are followed. This requires a lot of time to complete this certification, and he made a 100 on the final exam. Charlie knows his safety!!! MP is so proud of Charlie!

Weekly Update

February is CTE and Black History month. Each day we will share information linking the two topics.
Space…. the final frontier
As a doctor, engineer, and NASA astronaut, Mae Jemison has always reached for the stars. In 1992, Jemison became the first African American woman to travel to space. She has also written several books and appeared on many television shows including an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. In addition to her many awards, Jemison has been inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame and the International Space Hall of Fame. On September 12, 1992 Jemison, as a Mission Specialist, and six other astronauts went into space on the space shuttle Endeavor.
Thank you to the MPHS math and science teachers who are also reaching for the stars – students, you are the stars. Remember, reach for those “Blue Skies.”

Come to the FCA Huddle this Friday morning at 6:45 in the main gym! Join us for a devotional and a breakfast snack! Can’t wait to see you there!

Exciting news! The first Multicultural club will be meeting on February 26th after school. If you want to be part of a club where you will learn more about different cultures and communities, please stop by Mrs. Farrell’s room. We will have food, drinks, and activities. Everyone is welcome to join, and if you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Mejia.

Attention Beta Club members, please mark your calendars for a full club meeting after school on Monday March 3rd at 2:25 in the cafeteria.  The meeting should last no more than 30 minutes and light snacks will be provided.

Starting today through April we will be running a Teacher/staff vs. Teacher/staff March Madness Bracket. Students will vote weekly for the teacher/staff that has made an impact on their life. We will start today with our play in round. Voting for this round will run through Wednesday this week. You can only vote once per round.  There are QR codes placed around the school and your Teachers will have the link to vote during Tiger Time. Results will be on announcements and posted outside the main office weekly. We look forward to having fun with this activity. Go TIGERS!

There will be a football interest meeting this Wednesday during Tiger Time in the cafeteria. Students need to check into Tiger Time and be released to the cafeteria after announcements. If you can't attend the meeting please see Coach Crosby this week. Go TIGERS!

Reminder:  Students who signed up for the Youth Commission Career Compass Workshop should meet in the media center after school on Tuesday, February 25. Please plan to stay until 5:00 and make arrangements to have a ride to pick you up in front of the school at that time. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Vaughn.

Yearbooks are still available for purchase on-line.  Signs are posted around the building with QR codes to scan.  The price is $80.  Once books arrive and are distributed, any extras will be available for purchase for the price of $85. There will be fewer extra copies this year than in years past.  When they are gone, they are gone!  If you know you want a yearbook, please consider ordering in advance to guarantee a book is available for you at delivery.

PROM TICKETS will be on sale on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Commons area during lunches throughout the month of February. We are extending the sale through March 5th due to the snow days last week. Tickets are $75.00 each.  All school fees must be paid prior to purchasing a ticket. Mrs. Caviness has a list of fees. Check with her if you are unsure if you owe anything. The prom date is Saturday, April 5th at Gibson Mill.  No refunds will be issued.

On Friday, March 7th during 3rd and 4th block, please stop by Mrs. Farrell’s office if you would like to shop for new or gently used prom dresses.  We have had some beautiful dresses purchased and donated to us.
There will also be a Cabarrus County Prom boutique at Central Cabarrus High School Tuesdays and Thursdays February 18th-March 27th 2:30-6:00 p.m.  They will be closed during spring break.

Attention SENIORS: Please check your email! Miss Ziegler has sent out emails to students who qualify for Mu Alpha Theta (Mathematics Honor Society).  There is important information in that email regarding fees and a link to a google form you must fill out so you can be registered as a member.  The deadline for paying your fee to Mrs. Shinn in the front office is Thursday 2/27/25. You must also have submitted your google form by this date.  If you do not pay the fee and fill out the form by the deadline, you will not be a member!  Please see Miss Ziegler if you have any questions.

SENIORS: Cap and gown orders will be delivered on Wednesday, February 26th during all lunches in the Commons Area.  Your balance must be paid in full to pick up your order.  If you have questions, see Mrs. Dickson in the Guidance office.
ALSO, there will be a very important Senior meeting on Wednesday during Intervention.  You will learn about graduation and the senior events coming up in the spring.  Please attend and be on time!

SENIORS: Scholarship season is here!
Please check the MPHS website under Student Services to see all the free money you can apply for.
