Scholarships

What are Scholarships?

Scholarships are ongoing. It is important to be mindful of deadlines. Scholarships are monetary awards that help students fund their post-secondary education. Scholarships can be awarded for a variety of criteria including:

  • Merit (academic achievement, GPA, class rank, test scores, etc.)
  • Need (family financial situation)
  • Talent (athletic ability, artistic talent, etc.)
  • Affiliation (member of ABC Church, Child of Rotary Club, etc.)
  • Condition (diabetic, left-handed, cancer survivor, child of a veteran)

Getting started:

Check out these databases - you can enter your information and they will filter the opportunities for which you qualify.

North Carolina Home Builders Educational & Charitable Foundation, Inc. (NCHBECF)
The North Carolina Home Builders Educational & Charitable Foundation, Inc. (NCHBECF) will be granting a minimum of eight scholarships, ranging up to $1,000 each, to students entering community colleges or technical schools. One scholarship will be awarded in each of NCHBA’s eight regions. These scholarships are intended for students pursuing skilled trades in residential construction, such as carpentry, welding, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, etc. Second-year students are also eligible. The scholarships will specifically cover tuition, books, and academic fees. Importantly, eligible students do not need to be affiliated with an NCHBA member or be nominated by one.

This year, NCHBA introduces new opportunities for scholarships targeting rising juniors or seniors in a four-year university majoring in a construction-related field.  These university scholarships, along with the existing ones, do not mandate a familial connection with an HBA member. However, for the university scholarships, an HBA member's endorsement is required. You can access both applications as well as the requirements through this link.
